Blarney Castle

Home of the Stone of Eloquence and a very picturesque ruin

The castle dates from 1200, when a wooden structure was built and then replaced with stone in 1210. It was completely destroyed and later rebuilt in 1446 by Cormac MacCarthy, when the Blarney Stone was placed into the battlements. The castle is surrounded by extensive woodlands, where the beauty of Irish nature can be seen up close and personal, enhanced by legends of witches and druids.
