Wedding rings

The price of gold skyrocketed last week. And this trend looks set to continue - so we got my wedding band today. There is only one style of band that goes well with my engagement ring so it was just a matter of finding the best price, since these bands are literally everywhere (simple thin band with a line of diamonds). Now we have to get Lukas’ ring. Fortunately he knows exactly what he wants - unfortunately he saw the perfect ring in Melbourne but decided not to get it there. We’ll have to keep on searching here but might end up employing Kalina to get the ring from Melbourne in the end…

Ceremony locations

So, I talked to Father Bruce this morning and apparently the vicar is “not too keen” on us having the ceremony outside in the garden. Bummer, on one hand. On the other hand I started to think that it might be better to have the ceremony in a little chapel somewhere other than the reception venue. This would help to separate the two events (yes, they are two separate events!) and might make it that little bit extra special. Plus, we could then invite more people to the ceremony only and not feel as guilty about not including them in our special day.

So, the search for the perfect little chapel in South (of) Auckland begins.

I managed to upload and describe some photos from our recent trip to Melbourne - here’s a link

Camera

Picked up my repaired camera yesterday. It only took four weeks. But it was repaired under warranty even though the service centre insisted that it was physically damaged due to a shock or the camera being dropped. I treated this camera like a fresh egg and wouldn’t take this explanation, especially since it was based on… a tiny scratch on the bottom of the camera. The problem was the lens - it would come out but wasn’t able to calibrate correctly and the camera was displaying a message to switch it off and then back on. Resetting the camera worked for the first time it happened but the next time it didn’t.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t happen again - or at least not during our holiday in Aussie! I’m really looking forward to using my new wide-angle lens to shoot some city scapes!

Melbourne, here we come!

Two more days and we’re finally going on a short holiday. First stop - Melbourne, apparently the most European of all Australian cities. I’m looking forward to having this time off work - it’s been pretty stressful in the last few weeks, wedding planning adding to the load.

Then it’s Easter and so we’ll be flying to Sydney to spend this time with Lukas’ parents, fill them in on our plans for the wedding and have a few coffees in Darling Harbour. I also want to go to Ikea - since they’re not in NZ and I like their designs - clean lines and simple styling.

And if all goes well - I’m picking up my repaired camera today! Fingers crossed…
