Sunburn longboard cockroach moon chair

… that would be the last weekend in summary.
Sunburn = too much time spent on the beach in the “hot” hours. But who could resist getting in the warm water and staying there for hours?
Cockroach = the campgrounds were infested with the garden variety. Personally, I don’t mind them but others used hammers, shoes and even tent poles to eradicate them.
Moon chair = our last “best buy”, incredibly comfortable in all positions, including foetal. We will try to fit them into the car each time we go camping (for that touch of luxury)
Longboard = I STOOD UP! See for yourself:

Officially finished!

We had a little flatwarming tonight. Which means that officially we’ve finished renovating! Unofficially we still got the garden to finish (landscaping would have been done if it wasn’t for the little lake that formed in the backyard after the last rain) and the bathroom needs a bit more silicone here and there (this delay was caused by a leaky vacuum valve, which has now been replaced). Anyway, the flat will be advertised on Tuesday after we return from our well-earned long weekend in the beautiful Bay of Plenty.

No pictures from the flatwarming, were too busy having fun to take pictures. And a note to future tenants: the maximum number of people that the lounge can fit is around 18 (with snacks). Any more than that and discussion groups will need to be formed and delegated to the bedrooms.

Renewed energy

We took a few days off renovation during the Christmas/New Year break and boy, was it good! New Year’s was spent at Tokerau Beach in Northland, photos will be up soon.

We came back with renewed energy to tackle the last of the renovations, which now mainly consist of painting and finishing touches. The last few days were spent tiling various surfaces in the bathroom and kitchen and the flat looks like a million dollars already. Totally unrecognizable from its original self. This week we’re preparing the rest of the walls for painting and actually smearing some colour on them. The only place that still requires some real work is the bathroom where we need to finish building the cabinets - fingers crossed that we only have one more weekend to go!
